Hi, I'm Cynthia...
I grew up on a small family farm on the east side of Michigan. It made me who I am today, and influenced the way I see the world - through my lens and beyond!
I learned about life every day on our farm!
Tadpoles filled the ditch along the road in front of our house early in the spring. I loved to watch them grow legs and turn into big brown toads!
My brother, sister, and I ran to the chicken coop every day to gather eggs from the hens. Our father taught us how to bring a few of the eggs inside, place them under incubator lamps, and patiently wait as chicks developed and eventually hatched. We could watch the chicks grow inside the shells if we held them up to the light!
We rode our horses down dusty dirt roads, caught fish under the nearby bridge with bamboo poles, and harvested vegetables each fall that my mother canned and put away for winter.
The rhythms of nature were not just something we watched — they were something we lived every day.
That early connection to the land taught me patience and observation. Long before I ever owned a camera, I loved nature. I was learning to study light — the way it filtered through trees at dusk, how morning fog softened the fields, how the setting sun made everything golden. When I began studying art and photography and purchased my first professional camera, I felt an immediate pull toward landscapes. They felt familiar, like home.
Today, my work is rooted in that same quiet awareness. I am drawn to open spaces, weathered textures, soft light, and scenes that feel timeless. My hope is that each photograph carries a sense of calm — a reminder of slower days, open air, and the simple beauty found in the rural landscape.
I hope my work brings a feeling of peace and nostalgia to you as well.
From my heart,
Cynthia
